Responding to people’s immediate needs

Score: 3

Staff responded promptly and compassionately to people’s immediate needs, ensuring support was delivered in a timely and reassuring way. Due to recent development training, staff were equipped and competent to respond effectively and proportionately to people’s needs, particularly when individuals displayed distressed behaviours. We observed positive and supportive interactions where staff helped people manage challenging transitions, offering calm reassurance and adapting their approach to reduce anxiety. Staff demonstrated strong awareness of known triggers and took steps to avoid these, helping people feel safe, understood, and well supported. This timely, responsive and sensitive approach contributed to more settled experiences and improved outcomes for individuals.

Workforce wellbeing and enablement

Score: 3

The management team had been restructured, which strengthened leadership capacity and ensured roles and responsibilities were clearly defined and embedded across the service. The restructured team took a proactive lead in overseeing training compliance, carrying out knowledge checks, and ensuring staff received effective and timely supervisions. Staff told us this had a positive impact on their wellbeing and confidence, as they felt better supported and equipped with the skills, they needed to carry out their roles. This contributed to a more cohesive, motivated workforce and improved the consistency of care provided to people.
