Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The Registered Person must not provide personal care to any new service user without the prior written agreement of the Care Quality Commission.

The Registered Person must from 1pm on Wednesday 30 September 2020 implement a system to ensure that service users medicines are managed safely. This system must be based upon the NICE Guidance Managing medicines for adults receiving social care in the community. The Registered Person must write to the Commission no later than 4pm Wednesday 30 September 2020 to confirm what steps have been taken to comply with this condition and ensure that;

-Service users have a medication profile explaining what their prescribed medicines are for;

-Service users receive their prescribed medicines at the correct time, correct dosage and via the correct route;

-Medicines administration is recorded on a MAR chart that also shows the level of stock held, time of administration and who administered the medicines for each of a service users’ prescribed medicines

-Each service user has a PRN protocol in place that is followed by care staff for their prn medications

The Registered Person must by Thursday 1 October 2020 at 9am implement an effective system of audits that monitors service users medication administration. This system must ensure that any omissions or errors in recording or administration are identified within 24 hours and action taken to investigate the cause of the error or omission to ensure service users are not exposed to the risk of harm. The Registered Person must write to the Commission no later than 11am on Thursday 1 October 2020 to confirm what steps have been taken to comply with this condition.

Thereafter, the Registered Person must send the Commission a report each week on a Monday commencing Monday 5 October 2020 to show how you have ensured service users have received their prescribed medicines safely in the preceding week. This report should include-

- how you have ensured staff administering medicines are competent and have receiving training to do so

- an analysis of MAR charts and medication profiles identifying any errors or omissions and explaining the action you have taken in response to these.

- As part of this report, you should append the mar charts for all service users receiving medicines administered by staff, as part of their package of care.
