Witham Valley Care Group – DCA is registered to provide personal care for people with a learning disability and autistic people who live in their own home. CQC only inspects where people receive the regulated activity of personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

The service was safe, well led and person centred. Safeguarding systems were in place and staff were trained and confident in recognising and reporting concerns.

Risks were effectively assessed and reviewed, with positive behaviour support plans (PBS) focusing on prevention and de-escalation of distress. Staff consistently followed these plans, which reduced distress and supported people to enjoy meaningful activities and grow in independence.

People received personalised support from a skilled, consistent staff team who knew them well. Staff understood people’s communication needs, the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and human rights, and supported people to make choices and be involved in decisions about their care.

The service benefited from clear governance arrangements and strong leadership. Audits were used to drive improvement, and staff described managers as visible, supportive and approachable.

People's experience of the service

Updated 5 March 2026

Not everyone using the service was able to give verbal feedback. However, through observations, discussions with relatives and reviews of records we found that people were happy with the support they received. People had developed positive, trusting relationships with staff. Interactions were warm, respectful and responsive, and people were supported to choose how they spent their day. One person gave a thumbs up gesture to show they were happy with the support they received.

Relatives told us they felt reassured their loved ones were safe and well supported. They spoke positively about the high level of communication from managers and staff team and said they felt able to openly discuss any concerns. One relative told us, “I’m definitely happy with the service and I’d recommend it.”
