Staff promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. People confirmed any changes to the ways staff supported them were discussed with them and agreed.

People told us they were supported to be independent. One person said, “My one to one staff help me to go into Durham on the bus on Saturdays and to spend time with my family.” Staff shared examples of how they supported people in their own homes with their personal care needs and how they ensured people had choice and control over their care.
