During a check to make sure that the improvements required had been made

Our inspection of 1 November 2012 found that care plans lacked sufficient detail to say how individual people should be cared for. At this inspection we found that the service had made sufficient improvements to achieve compliance with this regulation.

We did not speak with people who used the service as part of this inspection. Please see our previous report for details of what people told us about the service.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit the service was providing personal care for two people. We spoke with one person who used the service and they told us they were supported to make choices and maintain their independence as much as they were able. They said staff assisted them to choose activities they wanted to do such as going for a walk, visiting relatives, reading books or help with cooking.

Comments included 'they look after me very nice and properly', 'it's a very good team, they work efficiently and are very helpful' and 'can't fault them in any way'. One person's representative told us that the person had a fear of being hoisted. They said staff had been very reassuring when hoisting and they were confident staff knew how to do this properly.

We found that people's needs had been assessed and then a care plan had been produced. However, care plans lacked sufficient detail to say how individual people should be cared for.

We found staff had received appropriate professional development and were aware of the appropriate reporting processes should an allegation of abuse be raised.

The service had an effective quality assurance system.
