Our view of the service
Our assessment started on 6 August 2026 and finished on 26 August 2026. We carried out our on-site comprehensive assessment on 10 August 2026 to follow up on the warning notices issued at the last assessment on 30 July 2025 and review the improvements made.
The Berrys Carehome is a residential care home providing accommodation with personal care for up to 3 people. The service can provide care to older and younger people and people with a learning disability and autistic people. At the time of the assessment there was 1 person living at the service. We have assessed the service against the Care Quality Commissions (CQC) guidance, ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make a judgement about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
At our last assessment on 30 July 2025, we found the provider was in breach of the regulations in relation to safe care and treatment, staffing, premises and equipment and good governance. At this assessment, we looked at all quality statements in all key questions. The provider had made improvements in all areas and was no longer in breach of the regulations. The provider had systems in place for the effective management and oversight of the service and to monitor and improve outcomes for people.
People's experience of this service
People were comfortable and relaxed in their home and felt safe with the staff supporting them.We observed staff to be kind and caring and treated people with respect.
People’s care was person centred and they were involved in all aspects of their daily life. Staff enabled them to participate in social and leisure activities of their choice. Staff provided opportunities for people to gain new skills and experiences. People had helped the service to improve by being involved in writing and reviewing their plan of support as well as help to choose carpets and accessories for the environment.
