All Inspections

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We visited this service because at our last inspection on 17 May 2013, we found most staff did not have up to date first aid knowledge and skills.

We spoke with the manager who told us they had taken immediate action following the last inspection, to ensure all staff were suitably trained and qualified in first aid.

We saw the training database and certificates for staff, which showed they had attended recent training and their knowledge was up to date.

We were satisfied that the provider had taken prompt action to ensure compliance and staff were appropriately qualified and able to respond to first aid situations should they arise.

17 May 2013

During a routine inspection

We spoke with people who use the service. They told us they were happy with the quality of their care and they praised the carers that they saw each day. People said that they could make decisions about their daily living and they felt well supported. Staff we spoke with told us they respected people's right to choose what they wanted and they met their needs on an individual basis.

We found that staff knew the people they cared for and this helped them to meet their needs. Staff we spoke with were enthusiastic and caring about their role and they felt well supported by their managers. Staff told us they understood how to protect people from abuse. We found that staff's first aid training was out of date and although managers told us they were aware of this, we judged this to have a minor impact upon the care being provided.

We saw systems were in place to evaluate and monitor the quality of the provision. We saw that feedback from people who used the service was valued and comments made were positive.
