All Inspections

28 March 2013

During a routine inspection

As part of our inspection we visited the service but found it closed, as no clinic was taking place that day. We subsequently attended Woking Community Hospital where records pertaining to the service were maintained and stored between clinics. There we spoke with the registered manager who told us that, during clinics, a consultation with an orthopaedic consultant took place at the surgery in a private consulting room, after which an appropriate clinical diagnosis or further referral was made

We found that people who used the service were respected and involved in their care. One person said, "They made me aware that I didn't have to have the operation but they explained the risks of not having it." Another person said "They made sure that my privacy was maintained at all times."

People who used the service received effective safe and appropriate treatment which met their needs. One person told us, "It was a good experience. Everyone was very polite and efficient. It was a very simple process."

We also found that people were protected from abuse or the risk of abuse as the service had made suitable arrangements to protect people who used the service.

Records which we examined showed that the needs of people using the service were met by staff who were appropriately qualified to do their job.

We found that, because the provider had published a suitable statement of purpose, the Care Quality Commission was informed of the services being provided.
