St Saviours Road is a small residential care home providing personal care and support for up to 3 people. The home specialised in the care of people with a learning disability and autistic people.
This assessment was carried out between 27 May and 10 June 2026. We visited the home on 27 and 28 May 2026. The service was last inspected in 2018 and rated Good. This inspection was planned and undertaken due to the age of the rating. At this inspection, the rating of the service has remained Good.
At the time of the assessment there were 3 people living at the home. We have assessed the home against ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
The manager had yet to register with Care Quality Commission. He had submitted his application to register, and this was being processed. The home was responsive to people’s changing needs and when additional training was required, the manager sought this. Record keeping in relation to fire drills needed to be more detailed to evaluate staff performance. The décor of the house was tired, and areas of the garden were unkempt. Following our visit, we were advised that the organisation was due to carry out an assessment of the building to assess what improvements might be needed to ensure people’s needs can be met in the long term. We were also told the manager would be recruiting for a gardener. Staff told us they were supported well by the management of the home, but less so by senior managers in the organisation.
There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and when additional support in an emergency situation was needed, this was provided promptly. There was a low staff turnover. This meant staff knew people well and were able to respond quickly to their needs. Staff told us they liked working at the home and they valued the support they received from the manager and deputy manager. Reasonable adjustments were made with staff when needed to ensure a good work life balance.
The home learned from incidents and made improvements where needed. Staff sought appropriate professional advice and support when needed to ensure people’s health and wellbeing was maintained. Quality assurance assessments were used to review the performance of the home.
