Our view of the service

Date of Assessment: 28 May 2025 to 3 June 2025. Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre Farnham is part of Nuffield Health, a not-for-profit healthcare provider. They provide health assessments that include a range of screening processes. Following an assessment and screening process, people can undergo a consultation with a doctor to discuss the findings of the results and any recommended lifestyle changes or treatment planning. The health assessment clinic is based within the fitness centre. People seen in the centre are either private clients (not commissioned by the NHS) or employees of organisations who are provided with health and wellbeing services as part of their employee benefit package. The service is registered with the Care Quality Commission (CQC) under the Health and Social Care Act 2008 in respect of some, but not all, of the services it provides. For example, physiotherapy, nutrition, and lifestyle coaching do not fall within the regulated activities. Nuffield Health Fitness and Wellbeing Centre Farnham is registered with CQC to provide the regulated activities of diagnostic and screening procedures and treatment of disease, disorder, or injury.

The service had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents thoroughly. People were protected and kept safe. Staff understood and managed risks. The facilities and equipment met the needs of people using the service. These were clean and well-maintained, and any risks mitigated. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications, and experience. Managers made sure staff received training and regular appraisals to maintain high-quality care.

People were involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs. Care was based on latest evidence and good practice. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent.

People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. The service supported staff wellbeing.

The service provided information people could understand. People using the service and staff, knew how to give feedback and were confident the service took it seriously and acted on it. The service was easy to access and worked to eliminate discrimination.

Leaders and staff had a shared vision and culture based on listening, learning and trust. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable, and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities. Managers worked with the local community and were receptive to new ideas. There was a culture of continuous improvement with staff given time and resources to try new ideas.

People's experience of this service

People were positive about the quality of their care and treatment. People using the service, contacted us via our Give Feedback on Care forms. We received 45 comments of which 42 were positive about the service provided. Comments included ‘great advice to improve lifestyle,’ ‘highly skilled staff’ and ‘very professional, steps explained clearly and plenty of time allowed to discuss with the physiologists and doctor’ We also received 3 comments that mentioned some concerns, including mistakes in administration tasks, and an error in a test result.
