All Inspections

6 December 2013

During a routine inspection

There was no manager registered at the time of our inspection. There was a manager for this service who, we were told, was going through the registration process.

We spoke with six people who use the service, two relatives and two members of staff. One person who uses the service told us 'The help we get is amazing.' Another person said 'The girls are so good to us.'

Relatives told us that the service was 'really fabulous'. A staff member said 'If someone needs help, we give it.'

We found that the support people received helped them to feel safe.

There were enough suitable staff available to meet people's needs.

We found that the provider employed a range of methods to assess and monitor service quality.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with five of the people who were using the service when we visited. People said "they were able to choose the times they wished staff to support them." They said "staff were flexible and accommodated their requests to change visit times."

People said "staff respected their privacy and dignity." They were addressed by their preferred name. One person said 'staff do more and above their call of duty to accommodate my needs.' People described the care they were receiving from staff as 'very good and excellent.'

People said they felt safe and comfortable with staff entering their flats to provide them with support. They said "staff spoke to them in a calm and polite manner." People said "they felt staff listened to their requests and addressed them within a reasonable timescale".

We found people's needs were assessed to ensure they received the appropriate care and support. There was a system in place to ensure people were protected against the risk of abuse. People were cared for by staff who were appropriately recruited and trained to meet their needs. The service had a system in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of the care people received.
