All Inspections

14 January 2014

During a routine inspection

At the time of our inspection, there were approximately 300 people using the service and 110 staff employed. We visited the agency office and met with the registered manager, the operations manager and four members of staff. After our visit, we spoke by telephone with nine people who used the service and another five members of staff. The reader should note that the term 'carer' refers to staff working at the agency.

We found the agency offered an organised service and provided flexible and responsive support. People we spoke with were happy with the quality of care and the support they received. Comments included, 'No problems, if I needed help it would be there' 'I am so happy with them (agency)' 'A very good service' and 'Nice people, they are doing everything right.'

We found that people's needs were properly assessed and that care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plans. People using the service and their relatives felt involved in planning their care. They told us the agency regularly met with them to review their care and support needs.

People were protected against the risks associated with medicines because the provider had appropriate arrangements in place to manage medicines.

Staff told us they liked working for Absolute Care Services. When asked what the agency did well comments included, 'The induction was so informative and they eased me in gently', 'Good company to work for' and 'It's a supportive network, they are always there 24/7.' All staff we spoke with told us management were helpful and there was always someone to talk to if needed.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received. People said they could raise any concerns or complaints with the agency.
