Updated 2 September 2025
Date of inspection: 16 September to 23 September 2025. This service is a residential care home with nursing for older adults, some who may be living with dementia. The service is registered to accommodate up to 30 people. At the time of our inspection 20 people lived there.
This assessment was carried out to follow up on the breaches of regulation found at our last inspection. We found sufficient improvement had been made and the service was no longer in breach of regulations.
However, some improvements were required to records and policies as these did not always reflect current guidance. Systems to provide oversight of incidents, accidents and safeguarding required further detail to be fully able to demonstrate decision making. Some recruitment checks required a more robust approach to ensure all checks were satisfactorily completed.
Leaders had created a positive culture around reporting any safety related issues and this helped to promote people’s safety.
When staff assisted people to transfer, this was now done safely. The home environment had undergone improvements, with further improvements planned. Improvements had been made to the management of infection prevention and control. Staff regularly checked on people and were now available to help ensure people’s safety.
Care plans and risk assessments were now fully completed with all relevant information for people’s safe care. Assessments helped to identify any risks and what actions staff were to take to help reduce them.
Staff received training and support to help them be competent in their job roles. The staff team worked well together, and they shared any relevant information about people’s changes in care needs with relevant professionals to help ensure people received the care they needed. Staff felt well supported, treated fairly and valued by the leadership team. They were able to raise any concerns or ideas for improvement. They worked well with other partners.
Opportunities to continuously improve the service were taken and staff supported the changes that had been introduced and were planned. Audits helped the leadership team assess the standards of quality and safety in the service.
