Accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care

Condition of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The Registered Provider must not admit any new service users to Tarry Hill without the prior written agreement of the Commission. This includes respite and emergency admissions.

The Registered Person must review your policy entitled �Restraint� to demonstrate how you will meet the Department of Heath April 2014 guidance, Positive and Proactive Care: reducing the need for restrictive interventions.

The Registered provider must take following action:

a. Review behaviour support plans and implement individualised plans for each service user which include clear descriptions of the type of physical interventions / restraints that can be used for the service user and the number of staff required. These must include at what point physical intervention / restraint can be used and for what period of time.

b. Develop an action plan, setting out when and how staff will be trained in advanced levels of physical intervention / restraint.

c. Put measures in place to ensure that physical intervention / restraint is only carried out by staff who have the required level training and ensure there are sufficient staff present to do this in accordance with service users individualised plans.

d. Implement a system to ensure that timely reviews and analyses take place following any physical intervention / restraint or seclusion to enable the identification and escalation of risk, poor staff practice or potential safeguarding concerns.

The Registered Provider must provide the Commission with written details of what steps it has taken in relation to a-d and details of measures in place to reduce risk by 9am on Monday 28 October 2019.

By 3pm every Monday, the registered provider must send the following;

Details of each episode of restrictive practice which has taken place in the previous week (this includes seclusion and physical intervention / restraint) to include; date, time, type of intervention, duration of intervention, staff involved, post intervention de-brief lessons learnt and action taken to reduce need for further restrictive intervention.

Terms of this registration relating to carrying out this regulated activity

The registered provider must only accommodate a maximum of 26 service users at Tarry Hill.

The registered provider must not provide nursing care under accommodation for persons who require personal or nursing care at Tarry Hill.
