People should be cared for by staff who are properly qualified and able to do their job (outcome 12)

Meeting this standard

We checked that people who use this service

  • Are safe and their health and welfare needs are met by staff who are fit, appropriately qualified and are physically and mentally able to do their job.

How this check was done

We reviewed information given to us by the provider.

Our judgement

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

Reasons for our judgement

When we inspected Dimensions 2 Buckby Lane on the 18th September 2013 we found insufficient evidence that the required recruitment checks had been carried out on a new staff member. There was no evidence that the staff member had completed an induction process. Evidence was also unavailable to show that the provider had confirmed that appropriate recruitment checks had been carried out on two agency staff by their employing agency.

The provider submitted an action plan in November 2013 and provided evidence of compliance when requested, for this desk-based review of compliance. The evidence provided showed that the required recruitment checks had been carried out on the permanent staff member in question. The staff member had also completed a recognised induction process. Appropriate information had also been obtained from the employing agency, confirming their recruitment checks on the two agency staff and their recent training attendance.
