During a routine inspection

As the service did not deal directly with patients but with other organisations, we were not able to speak to patients but we spoke to some of the clients that used the service. We spoke with two representatives from NHS trusts that used the service who told us, 'Reliable and professional service,' and 'Efficient and trouble free.'

We spoke to a consultant who worked for Medica Operational HQ. They said the organisation was supportive, and felt they were able to produce a high quality service.

Office staff told us that they worked closely as team, and that all decisions made about the service delivery were fully discussed. One staff member said, 'It's an interesting job.' Another said, 'We have a really good team of staff, both clinical and technical.'

We saw that there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place that ensured suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff were employed.

There was evidence that learning from incidents / investigations took place and appropriate changes were implemented. The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that clients receive.

There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints clients made were responded to appropriately.

Due to the nature of the service, they do not deal directly with patients but with other organisations, we were not able to speak to patients but we spoke to some of the providers that used the service. We spoke with a representative from one NHS trust that used the service who told us 'It is a service necessary and we get an efficient and trouble free service from Medica.'

We spoke to two consultants who worked for Medica Operational HQ. They said the organisation was excellent, and felt they were supported to produce a high quality service. One said, 'Very good IT support and the equipment is excellent,' 'I work for nighthawk, which means I'm on call for the night, we are well supported.' Another said, 'A very good service to work for, they have radiographers working for them so we know that if there is a problem getting an image they know what to do.'
