All Inspections

7 February 2014

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit thirty people were using the service and we spoke with seven people. We were told by people who used this service that they had been fully involved in planning their care and support and we saw that they had signed the majority of the care record documentation. One person said to us: "The staff are really good here and try to help us do things that we enjoy as well as challenging us a bit but at our pace".

We saw that people's needs were assessed and that care and support was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. We found risk assessments thorough and put together with involvement by the people who used the service.

One relative we spoke with said: "The service is absolutely fabulous, I can find no fault at all. My relative responds so well to the staff and that is down to how approachable and friendly they are".

We found appropriate arrangements were in place for the safe handling of medicines.

We found the provider encouraged feedback, both positive and negative to ensure a high quality service was provided and one staff member we spoke with said: "I absolutely love working here; we have a fantastic team and our people who use the service are just wonderful; such a rewarding job".

We saw evidence that care and support records were accurate and fit for purpose.

One person who used the service said to us: "Management are so approachable and if I had any concerns I would contact them straight away".

During an inspection looking at part of the service

We did not speak to people using the service for this follow up review.

We found that the provider had taken appropriate action following our last inspection to ensure that staff records included all the required information. This meant that people using the service could be assured they were being care for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

21 June 2012

During a routine inspection

We met and spoke with four people using the service and spoke with one person by telephone.

People using the service were given appropriate information and support regarding their care and treatment. We saw that one person had commented in their care records "I enjoy talking to my carers and conveying my needs."

People spoke positively about their support staff. We observed that staff showed warmth and respect for people using the service.

People told us "I feel very safe, they look after me ever so well" and said that staff were "very nice to me".
