During a routine inspection
Most of the people using the service had limited or no verbal communication skills. We were able to look at other areas for evidence to support their experience such as speaking with relatives and staff and looking at care records.
We spoke with two people using the service and two relatives. We also spoke with four members of care staff, the registered manager, the deputy manager and the finance director. We looked at three sets of care records for people using the service.
People that we spoke with told us that they were afforded dignity and respect and their independence was promoted.
Care plans and risk assessment were in place to support people's needs. People had choices available to them and their care was person centred so that they received care in the way that they preferred. One person that we spoke with said, " I have my pictures in my room that I chose".
Safeguarding procedures were in place and staff were confident that they would recognise and report any allegations of abuse so that people were protected from the risk of harm.
Staff were supported, supervised and trained to provide safe and effective care.
Systems were in place for the ongoing monitoring of the quality of service provided to ensure that standards were maintained.
