All Inspections

16 January 2014

During a routine inspection

At the time of the inspection the service was providing care and support to 24 people. We spoke with nine people who used the service or their relatives by telephone. We found that before people received any care or treatment they were asked for their consent and the provider acted in accordance with their wishes. One person who used the service said, 'I am looked after very well and respected. They do not rush and if they have time we enjoy a cup of tea together, gives me company.' Another person told us, 'They do not rush me. They give me a choice and are nice, polite and friendly."

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights. Peoples' needs were assessed and care and treatment was planned and delivered in line with their individual care plan. A family member said, 'All the carers are polite and regular and caring to (the person).'

People were protected from the risk of infection because appropriate guidance had been followed.

Appropriate checks were undertaken before staff began work, there were effective recruitment and selection processes in place and the provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.

5 July 2012

During a routine inspection

On 5 July 2012 we visited the office and carried out an inspection. On 6 July we telephoned three people who used the service and four people's close relatives to seek their views. The people who used the service said that they were happy with the care and support they received. People who used the service said they felt confident to take any concerns to the managers and they made several positive comments about the staff.

They said that staff respected their privacy and dignity and encouraged them to be as independent as possible.

Comments included,

'They are aware of my likes and dislikes.'

'My carer is lovely she knows exactly what I want.'

'Lovely and very respectful.'

People's relatives told us they were happy with the service provided, the care workers were very reliable and supportive and the manager was approachable, helpful and responsive.

During the inspection we looked at what people had said in a recent survey. The registered manager had sent out the surveys, to consult people about the quality of the service they received. These also indicated that people were happy with the service.
