All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with six people on the telephone, who either used the service or were a family member of someone who did. Overall, people spoke positively about the service. Comments included, 'Absolutely fantastic, they come every day and do everything for him ...they even wash my dishes, they're fantastic.'; 'The last care company was disgraceful, I'd given up hoping organisations like Allied existed, and they really are superb.'; and, 'Since my son moved to the Durham service it has been absolutely fantastic, we haven't had any problems at all.'

Care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

People who use the service were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

The provider had robust recruitment procedure in place to protect the people who used the service. People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff.

The provider had an effective system to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people receive.

There was an effective complaints system available. Comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with three relatives of people who used the service. All of them said that the care staff treated them with dignity and respect. If they had any concerns they knew who to contact and everyone felt that they were listened to.

The relatives we spoke to told us that normally the same group of care staff supported their family members. This was important as carers had to learn to communicate effectively with some people with complex needs.

People thought that the care given was of a high standard and staff had been properly trained to use any specialised equipment required to deliver the care to their relative.
