During a routine inspection

There were three people using the service and we met, spent time with and spoke with all of them. People said or indicated that they were happy with the service. One person said 'I like the staff, especially my key worker.'

People were taking part in activities including a creative art activity and one person returned home from an appointment. People were encouraged to be involved in the running of the service. One person said that they would be cooking later that day.

People told us about their recent holidays that they said they enjoyed. People's hobbies and interests were supported and people had support to keep in touch with their family and friends. One person said that they visited their family recently and that they enjoyed going to college.

People maintained good health because the service worked closely with health and social care professionals. The home was safe and well maintained and suited people's needs. People said that they were happy with their rooms and that the facilities met their needs.

Staff were supported and supervised and were given the training they needed to provide a good quality service. There was enough skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs and staff engaged with people in a calm, respectful and reassuring manner. One person told us 'I like (staff member), she is a lovely lady.'

The robust quality assurance and monitoring systems ensured that the service was safe. Staff were involved in the quality monitoring so had responsibility for various areas.

During a routine inspection

We made an unannounced visit to the service and spoke to people who use the service, the assistant manager and to staff members. There were three people using the service. We met and spoke to all of them and everyone we spoke to said or expressed that they were happy living at The Bungalow.

People told us or expressed that they felt safe and well looked after. One person said 'It is alright for me here'.

People said they could talk about any problems to the staff who would listen and act. People said that they thought the staff were kind and caring. One person said 'I am very fond of the staff. I like it here. I like the staff very much'.

People looked happy and relaxed in the company of each other and staff. People told us that they took part in a range of community based activities that they enjoyed. One person said that they enjoyed Karaoke at their local club and another person said they enjoyed playing Bingo and going to the disco locally.

People expressed that the home was clean and that their bedrooms were kept clean. People told us that they had support to take part in the cooking and cleaning. People had the opportunity to go food shopping and prepare their own meals.

People's health needs were supported and the service worked closely with health and social care professional to maintain and improve people's health and well being.

During a routine inspection

People told us that they had looked around the home before they made a decision about moving in. They said that they had a choice.

People told us that they felt safe and that they were happy at The Bungalow.

People said that if they had a complaint they would talk to staff who would listen and sort it out.

People said that their hobbies and interests were supported and that they went out a lot.
