Our view of the service

The service is a care at home agency which supports adults in the community to remain at home. At the time of our assessment the provider was supporting 94 people with personal care. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulates the personal care and support that people may receive. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.

The service provides care and support to older adults, including people living with dementia, mental health, people with physical disabilities, sensory impairment and people with a learning disability and/or autistic people.

We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.

At the time of the assessment, the service was not providing regulated activities to any autistic people or people with a learning disability, but the provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’.

We carried out this assessment on 30 July 2026. This provider was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the provider needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.

The provider had a manager registered with the Care Quality Commission, ensuring that both the registered manager and the provider were legally accountable for the operation of the service and the quality and safety of care delivered.

The provider demonstrated a strong and proactive culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement. Robust systems were in place to identify, monitor, and learn from accidents, incidents, safeguarding concerns, risks, and medicines management. Regular reviews, daily huddles, comprehensive audits, and the use of Care Copilot AI enabled trends, themes, and learning to be identified and embedded across the service. Safe recruitment processes, comprehensive induction, ongoing training, competency assessments, and supervision ensured staff were skilled, supported, and able to deliver safe, effective, and person-centred care. An area for improvement was identified in relation to allergy information not being recorded on Medication Administration Records (MARs). We found no impact on people as a result of this and found allergy information recording in other care records. The provider took action to address this during the inspection.

The provider delivered effective, evidence-based care through comprehensive assessments, personalised care planning, and regular reviews that reflected people's changing needs, preferences, and desired outcomes. Staff responded promptly when concerns about people's health or wellbeing were identified and worked closely with families and healthcare professionals to ensure appropriate support was provided. The registered manager and management team demonstrated a clear commitment to learning, innovation, and community engagement, using technology, partnership working, and a range of wellbeing initiatives to enhance people's experiences and improve quality of life. Governance systems, audits, and action plans provided effective oversight and supported the delivery of safe, high-quality, and sustainable care.

People's experience of this service

People experienced safe, effective, caring, and person-centred support that promoted their independence, wellbeing, and involvement in decision-making. Relatives consistently spoke positively about the service and felt their family members were safe and well cared for, with a relative commenting, “I feel they are well cared for and very safe.” People and their families were actively involved in assessments, care planning, risk management, and reviews to ensure support reflected their individual needs, preferences, routines, and desired outcomes. A relative told us, “Yes, there is a care plan. [Staff] come and chat about it every so often.” Staff responded promptly to changes in people's health and wellbeing, worked closely with healthcare professionals when required, and supported people to maintain choice and control over their lives. People were encouraged to remain as independent as possible, with care delivered in a way that respected their privacy, dignity, rights, culture, and personal preferences.

People also benefited from a service that listened to their views and actively sought feedback to improve care and support. Relatives described staff as approachable and caring, with a relative telling us, “I find them very personable, very friendly.” Regular contact with people and their families, alongside formal reviews and surveys, ensured concerns, changing needs, and suggestions were identified and acted upon promptly. A relative told us, “They contact me on a regular basis to ask how I am finding the service and anything they could do better.” The provider promoted equality, inclusion, and accessibility, ensuring people received support that respected their individual backgrounds, beliefs, and values. Community initiatives, companionship opportunities, chair-based exercise sessions, dementia-focused projects, educational events, and access to a local drop-in facility helped people remain connected to their communities, reduce social isolation, and enhance their overall quality of life.
