During a routine inspection
We spoke with two care support workers who were able to demonstrate knowledge of the need to obtain consent from service users prior to any activity. One person told us, 'I always ask if it is okay to go in their (service users) home, I knock and wait. I always obtain verbal consent before I do anything'.
We looked at two service user care files. People's personal, medical, health and care details were seen. There was a chronological pattern and clear care planning that was person centred, these had been reviewed regularly.
The two service users we spoke with confirmed care support staff did their job and provided them with help they needed. One service user told us, 'The staff are good they appear to know what they are doing'. Another person said, 'The staff look after me properly, I can't speak highly enough of them'.
We saw service users were protected as systems were in place to review and monitor care and delivery. We saw audits taking place such as care plan reviews. The manager told us they were looking at introducing new documentation to ensure a more detailed audit of care files was undertaken.
