People told us that they were given information about the home to help them decide if it was the right place for them to live. Relatives told us that the home kept them involved in the care of their family member. They said 'They phone us straight away if they are unwell.' They also told us there had been a residents/relatives meeting which they attended.
Everyone, without exception, told us that the staff treated them with respect, respecting their privacy and right to remain independent.
People told us how the staff respected their religious needs. They said 'It's the policy of the home to respect my culture.'
Everyone said they would have no hesitation in making a complaint if they were unhappy. One person told us 'When I have raised concerns they have been sorted quickly.'
We asked people what they thought of the building. Everyone commented about how clean it was, but also mentioned that some of the furniture could do with being replaced.
Everyone told us that they felt there were enough staff on duty. People said 'They come quickly when I press the buzzer.'
Other comments from people included:
'It's been fantastic from the beginning.'
'I would give them ten out of ten.'
'I'm very happy here.'
'I have confidence in the manager.'
'They look after me well' and
'They are nice people.'
We watched how the staff supported the people in their care. We saw people were treated with dignity and respect. For example, when staff talked with people they made sure that they got down to their eye level. When people were supported to walk, they were not rushed but supported to move at a pace comfortable for them. We heard staff address people respectfully, speaking quietly about private matters.
