Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 18 -19 November 2025
Aston House Care Home is a nursing home for up to 48 older people. At the time of our assessment, 38 people were living at the service.
The last rating of the service was good (published 24 May 2019). Following this assessment, the rating remains good.
People received safe care and treatment. Staff assessed risks to their safety and wellbeing. People received their medicines in a safe way. People lived in a safe and clean environment.
There were enough staff to keep people safe and meet their needs. Staff were provided with training, support and guidance to help make sure they could deliver evidence-based care. Staff were happy working at the service.
The provider worked closely with external professionals to assess and plan for people’s needs, including their healthcare needs. Staff monitored people’s wellbeing and took appropriate action when people became unwell.
Staff supported people to make choices.
The provider had effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service. They reviewed all accidents, incidents and complaints. They conducted a range of audits. The provider gathered and acted on feedback from stakeholders.
People's experience of this service
People had a good experience living at the home. People and their relatives liked the service. Staff provided person-centred care. People had good relationships with staff. People were able to make choices about their care.
People took part in a range of activities.
Comments from people using the service included, “I like the home, and I always have company”, “They have patience in spades” and “Staff are warm and friendly.”
People told us they did not have to wait for care. A person commented, “There are enough staff here and they are definitely well trained.” They told us they were able to see healthcare professionals when needed and staff monitored their health and wellbeing. People enjoyed the food and had enough to eat and drink.
People told us the service was well-led. A person commented, “There is always someone looking out for you here.”
