About the service

Quantock House is a residential care home providing personal care and accommodation for up to six people with a learning disability. The service is laid out over two floors, with communal areas on the ground floor, such as a lounge and dining room.

We found the following examples of good practice.

Procedures were in place for staff and visitors on entry to the service to minimise the risks of transmission. A visiting policy was in place which explained how different visits would be conducted safely. There were good stocks of personal protective equipment (PPE).

Staff had received training in infection control, including how to use PPE. Staff we spoke with were clear on the procedures and systems in place. We highlighted there was not a designated pedal bin at the PPE station to dispose of PPE. The registered manager said this would be addressed.

People were being supported to maintain social relationships and access the community.

Regular testing was carried out for people and staff. Where people lacked capacity to make specific decisions appropriate assessments had been conducted.
