During a routine inspection

Care and support was provided to people in their own flats within a purpose built extra care housing complex. People we spoke with were satisfied and positive about the care and support they received.

We spoke with a relative of a person who used the service and they said, "We have had a very good service from Anchor.'

Records we saw confirmed Anchor Trust had effective recruitment and selection policies in place to ensure staff members were of good character and had the required skills to perform their work.

We spoke with eight people who used the service and they said they were happy with the care and support they received. People told us they were well looked after. One person said, 'I like living here, the staff are very nice.' Another person said, 'I love my flat and it's good to know staff are on hand 24-hour.' We saw people had been involved in making decisions about the care and support they received. People had been asked to sign records to consent to the care and support planned.

People were cared for, or supported by, suitably qualified, skilled and experienced staff. We observed staff supporting people who used the service and saw good care being provided. Staff knew the people they were supporting very well. People who used the service seemed comfortable with the members of staff who were supporting them. Staff told us people received very good care and support.

People told us they could contact the manager or staff at the service if they needed to discuss anything. People said they had the opportunity to talk about their opinions of the service during reviews.

The provider had an effective system to identify, monitor and manage risks to people who used or worked in the service.

We found people were treated with dignity and respect and received care that met their needs.

We spoke with nine people who used the service to seek their views about the service provided. People said that they were happy with the care and support they received. They said they felt confident to take any concerns to the manager and they made several positive comments about the staff. They said that staff respected their privacy and dignity. People told us the care workers were reliable and supportive and the manager was approachable, helpful and responsive. One person said, 'This manager has been great, she sorts out any problems immediately.'

People we spoke with confirmed that Hampton Crescent had carried out an assessment of their needs before the service started, and that they had a copy of their care and support plan in their home.
