All Inspections

During a routine inspection

We spoke with two people who use the service and observed care for another person. One person told us "I like living here the staff help me to go out". Another person had just moved into the service. They told us "This house is nice and the staff seem to be okay. I like my room and have a lot of space for my things."

A member of staff told us "I have only been here for 14 weeks but can see how person centred the service is. The manager has a wealth of experience and has supported me well." Another member of staff said: "We have had a few changes recently but it is exciting getting to know the new people coming in. One of them has been a real breath of fresh air and I am looking forward to working with them."

On our last inspection we found the service to be non-compliant in two areas. One of the areas was staff training in Safeguarding vulnerable adults. We saw in staff records all staff had completed or were booked on annual safeguarding training. Staff we spoke with were aware of abuse and knew what to do if they found abuse occurring.

The other area was staff had not received an induction training or regular supervisions. We saw in staff's records induction checklists had been completed for new staff since January 2013. Staff told us how often they received supervisions and we saw up to date supervision records in staff files.

The provider regularly monitored the quality of the service with regular audits and feedback from people, staff and professionals.

During a routine inspection

At the time of our visit we spoke with two people who use the service and to two members of staff.

We saw that care needs were assessed and care treatment was delivered in line with individual care plans. One person who used the service said, "I am very happy living here". Staff are very kind and try to encourage us to do things for ourselves". People told us that they were happy with general environment of the home. We observed that people who used the service were treated with respect.

People told us that the quality of care was good and their individual needs were met. We saw that people experienced care and support based on their detailed care plans and risk assessments that ensured that they were safe. This was confirmed by our review of people's records as well as our observation.

Although the records showed that staff received safeguarding training, they were not aware of the method of reporting any concerns. When we spoke to them we found that they did not have sufficient knowledge of safeguarding adults.

There were processes in place to monitor the quality of service being provided.
