During a routine inspection

There were six people living at 1 South Avenue when we visited. Due to communication skills, two people were unable to tell us about their experiences of care. Four people told us they were happy with the support they received. Comments included, 'It's really nice here, I like all the staff we have a laugh together.' Another person told us that the staff were 'nice'.

People's family members spoken with were happy with the support their relatives received. Comments included, 'the staff are very good, I think x is supported well and seems happy there.'

We observed staff supporting people in a positive and friendly way. It was clear from our observations that staff had developed positive relationships with the people using the service and understood their needs and preferences.

People were supported to undertake activities of their choice and to develop their skills and independence.

People's preferences and the level of support they needed was clearly recorded in their support plans.

People were supported to access health care services as needed to maintain their health.

The recruitment practices and training provided ensured staff were suitable to work with people using the service and had the relevant skills and knowledge to support them effectively.

People using the service were supported to raise any concerns. Information on how to make a complaint was given in a way that people using the service understood.

During a routine inspection

There were five people living at 1 South Avenue when we visited. We met and introduced ourselves to the people living there. We spoke to three people in more depth to get their views of the service. People told us they were satisfied with the care and support provided to them.

People told us that they liked the staff team and confirmed that they supported them with their daily routines and activities. One person said, 'we can choose what we want to eat, we all take it in turns to decide what we're having for tea.' Another person told us, 'it's my choice tomorrow night, we're having toad in the hole.'
