The Laurels Care Home supports people who may be living with dementia, physical disability, a sensory impairment, mental health and people who may be autistic or living with a learning disability. The service supports up to 52 people.
We assessed the service against ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.
At our inspection the provider was in breach of the legal regulation in relation to safe care and treatment.
During our inspection we found the environment was not always safe, medicines were not always managed safely, and people’s risk assessments were not always informative for staff.
The Laurels Care Home had a caring staff team with the right skills and knowledge to support people effectively. Staff received training and regular supervision to maintain quality care.
People’s needs had been assessed and were regularly reviewed. The provider worked in partnership with other organisations including, health, community and faith groups to meet people’s needs.
Staff told us they were supported by the management team. The registered manager was approachable, visible and understood their responsibilities.
