All Inspections

During a routine inspection

People told us their care workers showed respect, gave them options and choices and addressed them in an appropriate manner. One person said, 'they are like one of the family my care worker is a beautiful person with a big heart. They are very respectful and polite.'

There were suitable arrangements in place to ensure people using the service were safeguarded against the risks of abuse.

There were enough qualified, skilled and experienced staff to meet people's needs. Staff received appropriate professional development. They were able to obtain further qualifications relevant to their job. Staff were supported in their work through supervision meetings, annual appraisals and team meetings.

There were quality monitoring processes in place. People were asked for their opinion of the service through telephone spot checks, reviews and a yearly survey. People understood how to complain and any complaints were addressed appropriately.

During a routine inspection

We were able to speak with two people who were using the service and a relative of another person. One person told us that they were 'satisfied with the agency' and that they felt 'listened to'. Another person who was the relative of someone who was using the service said that they believed that 'care staff treat my relative with dignity and respect'.

The relative of someone who was using the service told us that there is 'a yearly review, during which we can raise any issues'. Another person gave an example of needing an increase of their care hours, which the agency facilitated by liaising with social services. This person thought that the staff member they contacted at the agency office was "very helpful" and "always got things sorted out".

Both the people we spoke with said they felt safe with the agency care workers. One person said 'I would raise any concerns if I needed to and feel the agency would listen and would take any issues seriously'.

During an inspection in response to concerns

The people who spoke with us said that they felt able to talk to members of staff who they trust and are familiar with about their individual needs. They praised the helpful nature of staff but are not always confident about the attention that they receive from the agency as an organisation. Notable concerns existed for these people about times when new and unfamiliar staff were visiting and who these people are. The timing of visits in many cases is thought to be haphazard and not at all what they had been led to expect.
