All Inspections

During a routine inspection

The service provides flexible day care and overnight respite care. We inspected The Chace Day Care and Respite Care and we spoke with two people who were there for day care. Following the inspection we spoke with two relatives of people who had previously received overnight stays. On the day of our inspection there were no people using the overnight respite facility.

We observed the care and support people received during the day. We had discussions with the registered manager and care staff about how people were being supported.

Staff told us they were aware of each person's needs and how to give care and support to meet those needs. People who used the service during the day told us the staff were: 'Good as gold'.

People were supported to bring their medicines to the home and the provider had taken steps to store these in a safe and secure way.

The provider was able to demonstrate that they listened to people who lived at the home and regularly reviewed and monitored the service to make sure people received appropriate care.

During a routine inspection

When we visited The Chace Respite and Day Care Centre we spoke with one person who used the service, three relatives and three staff. People told us the care was good and one relative told us that the staff gave a, "Very high standard of care".

We saw that people appeared relaxed and comfortable. They were being cared for in a way that they preferred. One person we spoke with said the staff, "Always treat me with dignity".

We found that medicines were not being stored appropriately. This meant medicines were not always being kept safely.

We found that the provider did not carry out regular audits. This meant that the provider was not always able to monitor the quality of the service it provided.

Staff employed at the service had access to further training and told us that they felt supported by their peers and the registered manager. This enabled them to offer effective care and support to the people who used the service
