Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 19 March to 23 April 2025.
The inspection was carried out due to concerns raised about the service during the night. We therefore completed an out-of-hours inspection and assessed 2 quality statements in relation to safeguarding and safe and effective staffing.
We found people were safe and staff knew how to safeguard people. There were processes in place to support safeguarding practices. Staff received training relevant to their job roles and recruitment practices were aligned to the provider’s policy and legislation.
However, we found one staff member could not explain how a person sustained bruising, but the nurse onsite was able to explain this, and the actions taken to protect the person. We observed a staff member did not ask for consent when turning a person’s light on at night, which resulted in the person being afraid. The staff member explained the reason for doing this was to administer medication safely, however they did not consider the impact this may have had on the person. We also observed one staff member did not respond to a bed mattress alarm going off, however no harm came to the person as the nurse was notified and responded.
People's experience of this service
People we spoke with told us they felt safe. Some people told us staff were busy but responded to their needs. Comments included, “I feel safe, staff are good and will come if I need them, I am settled here and happy. They look after me.”
