During a routine inspection

We spoke with four parents of families who were supported by the service. They told us that they had been involved in developing their care plans, for example by saying what support they needed and when. They also said that people had been given information about the service so that they knew what to expect.

The parents told us that their family support workers were always polite and respectful. They said that the staff were flexible to meet the needs of their families. One parent said "they are wonderful, the family support worker is part of our family," another parent told us 'they cover a variety of things, not just one'. Families were supported to make decisions about their care and day-to-day lives.

There were children's and adults' safeguarding procedures and staff had received training so that people were protected from abuse. Staff had also received a range of other training and qualifications and they were supervised and supported so that they could meet people's needs. The parents thought that their children were safe with the carer staff.

Families were asked their views about the service and these were listened to and acted upon. There was a system to monitor the quality of the service that families received and to make improvements when needed. There were also systems to manage risks and keep people safe.
