During a routine inspection

We visited the agency's premises in Reading to look at records and to speak to staff. At the time of our visit the agency was providing a service to five people living in Hertfordshire. We were told by the manager of the agency that there were plans to relocate the office to that area in the near future.

We spoke on the telephone to two relatives of people who use the service. One of the relative's told us, 'We are very happy with the service provided. The carers are very good and very reliable.'

We saw the records for five people who were receiving a service. They had diverse and complex needs. Several of the people required two carers to meet their needs and 'double-up' calls were being provided by the agency.

We could see from records that people and/or their relatives had been fully involved in planning their care and support.

We saw from records that staff were provided with appropriate training in safeguarding, in order to protect people from abuse and exploitation.

Staff had been appropriately recruited to ensure they were suitable to work with vulnerable adults. They had the necessary skills and aptitude for the work they performed and essential recruitment checks had been carried out.

The service effectively monitored the quality of services provided. There was a complaint policy and procedure in place, which was available to people who use the service.
