Treating people as individuals

Score: 3

We did not look at Treating people as individuals during this assessment. The score for this quality statement is based on the previous rating for Caring.

Independence, choice and control

Score: 3

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing.

People’s rights and independence were promoted, and this was reflected in feedback from people and relatives, discussions with staff and care records. We saw examples where people’s health and skills had improved because of the care they had received. For example, 1 person’s mobility had significantly improved which meant they needed 1 instead of 2 staff to support them.

Staff spoke warmly about people and told us about examples where they promoted their independence and encouraged them to make choices. They demonstrated a good understanding of person led care. People and relatives told us they were involved in writing their care plans and gave good feedback about the kindness and responsiveness of staff. Comments included, "I have a lovely carer. We are very compatible; we have a routine. I could not cope without her. She is brilliant" and, “They care. The care is 100%.” Several people commented the support they received was highly valued as it meant they could continue to live in their homes.
