During a routine inspection

People received safe and appropriate care because their needs were thoroughly assessed before any support was provided. Care plans were person centred and reviewed regularly, which ensured that any changes in people's needs were met. People who used the service told us the staff were "excellent". One person said, "I'm over the moon. They treat me like a person and make me feel special." Another said, "The staff are genuine and really care."

We found that people were protected because the provider had clear procedures followed in practice, which had taken account of relevant guidance for the management of alleged abuse.

The service ensured that people were supported to take their medine safely. People told us that the level of their mistimed visits was very low, which meant that they received their medication at the right time to meet their health needs.

There was an effective recruitment and selection process which completed all relevant security checks and references before staff were employed. We noted that staff received a comprehensive induction to recognised standards before they were allowed to work unsupervised. This meant that people received support from competent, appropriately qualified and trained staff.

The agency protected people against the risks of unsafe care because the manager regularly assessed and monitored the quality of the service provided.

During a routine inspection

People told us they were involved in planning their care and had received sufficient information about the services offered by the agency. Information had been given about the complaints procedure and the quality of service people should expect.

We were told that staff carried out their tasks professionally and completed the required paperwork. Staff generally arrived on time and were friendly and polite.

Staff were receiving regular training and supervision and were well supported by the senior staff.

The agency had systems in place to audit and monitor the care and support that was being delivered.
