We completed an inspection between 22 October and 30 October 2025 at Dependable Care LLP. We inspected the service due to length of time since the last inspection as well as risk related to information we had gathered about the service.
This service is a domiciliary care agency and supported living service. It provides personal care to people living in their own homes. The service did not have a manager registered with the Care Quality Commission.
The service is registered for use by autistic people or people with a learning disability. At the time of the assessment, the service was not used by anyone with a learning disability or an autistic person. However, we assessed the care provision under Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture (RSRCRC), as it is registered as a specialist service for this population group. We found systems were not in place to ensure the principles of RSRCRC were consistently met. This would place autistic people and people with learning disabilities at risk of receiving poor quality care.
The provider failed to ensure people’s health risks were well managed, and people were not supported by suitably qualified and competent staff. Care information did not provide sufficient guidance and information to support people to live healthy lives. Medicines had not been managed safely. There was a lack of systems in place to ensure people were supported with dignity, kindness and respect as there was limited or infrequent spot checks or feedback limiting the service’s ability to identify and make improvements. There were no effective audits or checks in place to identify the significant concerns we found during the inspection. Governance systems were not effective, they did not identify or act on areas of concern and systems for monitoring care provision did not provide effective oversight to ensure that care was meeting the needs of people.
We found significant shortfalls across the service and identified breaches of 5 regulations in relation to providing people with person centred care, safe care and treatment, staffing, fit and proper persons and good governance.
This service is being placed in special measures. The purpose of special measures is to ensure that services providing inadequate care make significant improvements. Special measures provide a framework within which we user our enforcement powers in response to inadequate care and provide a timeframe within which providers must improve the quality of the care they provide. In instances where CQC have decided to take civil or criminal enforcement action against a provider, we will publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded.
