Our view of the service
Date of assessment: 19 May to 27 May 2025. Five Gables Care Home is a care home that can support up to 16 older people and people living with dementia.
We assessed this service due to the age of the rating. We have looked at all key questions and quality statements.
The provider had a positive learning culture, where people could raise concerns with confidence they would be heard. People were protected and kept safe by staff who understood their responsibilities to ensure people were safeguarded from any risks.
People and their relatives were fully involved in assessments of their needs. Staff reviewed assessments taking account of people’s communication, personal and health needs.
Staff worked with health and social care agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving services. Staff made sure people understood their care and treatment to enable them to give informed consent. Staff involved those important to people took decisions in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity.
People were treated with kindness and compassion by a staff team who showed understanding. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported their preferences. People had a choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. Staff responded to people in a timely manner.
The provider fully supported staff wellbeing. Staff were trained well and recruited safely. Staff had a strong ethos of putting people at the centre of their care.
Medicines were safely managed and administered, staff were skilled and well trained to ensure people received the right support.
People's experience of this service
People had a positive experience and told us they were happy with the support they received.
An Expert by Experience spoke with relatives of people living at Five Gables Care Home, to which all the feedback we received was positive. People were treated with kindness and compassion and staff knew the people well. One relative told us, “I feel I have the best support from the management and staff. Everyone is very approachable and always has time to talk. I would certainly recommend this home.”
