Our view of the service

This assessment looked at Blake ward, at Spring Wood Lodge from 19 to 20 August 2025.

This is the first assessment for this newly registered service. Following this assessment, we rated the service as good.

People's experience of this service

We spoke to 3 patients on Blake ward. They all said that staff were kind, caring and compassionate and that they took an interest in their wellbeing and supported them to recover. Patients said that staff worked with them to maintain contact with families and carers, and they said that access to an advocate was straightforward.

Patients told us that access to activities could be better and that the quality of food was poor, although the choice of food was okay and their specific dietary requirements were met.

We spoke to 1 family member of a patient on Blake ward. They told us that staff were helpful in supporting visits and ensuring that a suitable space was available. They said they were kept informed and involved in their loved one’s care on a regular basis and when incidents occurred. They said that staff were consistent, responsive, and were working hard to provide a good standard of care and treatment.
