Caring
Caring – this means we looked for evidence the provider involved people and treated them with compassion, kindness, dignity and respect. At our last assessment we rated this key question good. At this assessment the rating has remained good. This meant people were supported and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.

Kindness, compassion and dignity
The provider always treated people with kindness, empathy and compassion and respected their privacy and dignity. Staff treated colleagues from other organisations with kindness and respect. People who use the service and relatives said they were happy with the care staff and the care provided. One person said, “I have one regular carer who fulfils all my current care needs. They [care staff] are kind, caring and respectful”. A relative said, “They [care staff] are kind, caring and very patient”.
Treating people as individuals
The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. Leaders made sure care plans reflected how staff could provide support in a way which promoted this. One staff member said, “I involve service users in their care. I do what they want me to do. I encourage them to do things for themselves to keep their independence as much as possible”.

The provider promoted people’s independence, so people knew their rights and had choice and control over their own care, treatment and wellbeing. The provider cared about and promoted the wellbeing of their staff and supported and enabled staff to always deliver person-centred care. The staff we spoke with said they loved their job and liked working for Agincare UK Leominster. They felt well supported by staff in the office and the on-call staff member at weekends. One staff member said, “I’m very happy where I am. Management are clear and also they support the staff”.
