How this check was done

We reviewed all the information we have gathered about Hyde Park Healthcare Limited t/a Hyde Park Care, carried out a visit on 13 December 2012, talked with carers and / or family members and talked with staff. We received feedback from people using comment cards.

Our judgement

People were cared for by staff who were supported to deliver care and treatment safely and to an appropriate standard.

Reasons for our judgement

When staff first started working at the service they received an induction which included relevant training (such as safeguarding and manual handling) and spent two weeks shadowing other staff. Whilst the service was relatively new there were plans in place to provide refresher training in relevant topics on an annual basis. There was a policy and procedure in place for staff to receive annual appraisals which covered their performance and professional development for the coming year. They met on a monthly basis with senior staff at the service to discuss the care and support they were providing to people. Managers carried out regular spot checks in people's homes to check on the quality of care and support that staff were providing. Further professional training was available to staff if they wanted it.
