During a routine inspection

People using this service had minimal personal care needs. We spoke with two of the five people receiving a personal care service. People's independence and autonomy were promoted by staff who understood these concepts and applied them in their support of people. One person described this as 'I can do things for myself. I need reminding sometimes and that's what they do'. Another person said they were 'rubbish with money' and needed support with this aspect of their daily living.

People had their needs assessed and were being supported to develop skills to meet these needs. Staff described how they supported one person to go to college and another person to go fishing. People told they knew and liked their support workers who arrived on time and helped them with things they needed help with. People said they felt safe with support staff who demonstrated a good understanding of abuse and the procedures to follow if an allegation of abuse were made. Money managed on behalf of people was held safely and securely.

Some staff had been recruited in a robust way and had received training appropriate to their role. One member of staff had not. Records were held securely and were detailed. Other records had not been completed or were incomplete. This included records in relation to decision making, financial transactions, care plans, training and recruitment.
