Our view of the service
We inspected the Haynes Clinic on 30 July 2026.
We assessed the service to review the progress made after a letter of intent to take urgent enforcement action under section 31 of the Health and Social Care Act 2008 was issued to the provider following the inspection in December 2025. The service provided an action plan of the improvements it planned to make, and we reviewed progress against this action plan. We found that the service had made improvements and was no longer in breach of regulation.
The Haynes Clinic is an 18 bedded residential substance misuse service for men and women. It provides detoxification and 12-step based rehabilitation treatment. The Haynes Clinic includes a therapy unit known as ‘the clinic’ and 3 residential houses.
The Haynes Clinic has a registered manager in place and is registered with the Care Quality Commission to provide:
Treatment of disease, disorder or injury
Accommodation for persons who require treatment for substance misuse.
People's experience of this service
We spoke with 7 people using the service. Feedback about the service was mixed with some people saying that the group therapy was ‘brutal’ with staff being ‘aggressive’ and ‘judgmental’. Other people told us that they could see the brutal nature of therapy groups encouraged honesty about their substance misuse and the workshops were more compassionate.
Some people said that they had expected more 1-1 sessions with their counsellor and felt that would have been beneficial.
Some people raised concerns about the living accommodation, saying there was damp and cat urine stains in one house.
