During a routine inspection

People we spoke with who use the practice told us they were happy with the service provided. They felt they were given enough information about their treatment options and relevant fees as well as time to ask questions in order to make an informed decision.

They told us the staff were friendly and treated them with respect and their privacy was maintained. All the people we spoke with had been coming to this practice for a substantial period of time for treatment. People told us the practitioners discussed and encouraged them with good dental habits and hygiene.

We spoke with three people who told us all the staff were aware of people's individual needs and treated them with respect and dignity. All people we spoke with felt confident and comfortable with the practice staff.

We saw that people had been provided with quotes of treatment prices in advance, with a break down of the costs.

We saw the contact details for emergency dentistry were displayed in the reception area of the practice.

The surgery has effective systems in place for the decontamination of instruments. There is a lead member of staff for infection control practices. Staff had been trained to follow infection prevention and control precautions.

The practice is situated over two floors and had disabled access to the practice with a surgery on the ground floor.

People are protected from abuse through staff who had received regular training and awareness updates. Staff had also received training in protecting children and young people and recognising signs of abuse through oral examination. However staff were not fully aware of how to protect people through the use of the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
