Dates of assessment: 4 November 2025.
Little Gaynes Rest Home is a residential care home providing the regulated activity of personal care to up to a maximum of 20 people. The service provides support to older people, some of whom are living with dementia. At the time of our inspection there were 16 people using the service. The service is a residential property that has been adapted into a care home, based over two floors.
This assessment was carried out by an inspector. We looked at 13 quality statements. We spoke with people who used the service, their relatives, and staff to seek their views about the service.
This was a planned assessment, and the report only covers our findings in relation to the key questions effective and well-led. For those key questions not inspected, we used the ratings awarded at the last inspection to calculate the overall rating.
The last rating for this service was ‘requires improvement’ (published 26 July 2023). This assessment was carried out to follow up on actions we told the provider to take at the last inspection.
The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to Person-centre care, Need for consent and Good governance. Improvements were found at this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation. There was an effective system in place to fully assess people’s needs. The provider acted in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. They had effective systems to assess, monitor and improve the quality and safety of the service.
