During a routine inspection

We spoke with three relatives and they were full of praise for the service their relatives received from Sussex Homecare saying it was 'priceless', 'reliable' and 'very thorough'. One relative had experienced difficulties finding a suitable service provider and said that 'small is beautiful' and that their flexible approach had 'saved my bacon'. Another said 'I would trust them with my life'.

We spoke with two of the people receiving the service and they said it was 'first class' and both said that, without the service, they would find it very difficult to remain in their own homes. They said that the service supported their independence and dignity.

We observed staff and saw how they offered practical support by emptying the bins, cooking breakfast and assisting with personal care and medicines. We also saw their patience and care as they offered emotional support when a person was confused and frustrated by a loss of short term memory. Before they left the person they said 'now are you comfy and are you warm?', and 'is there anything else I can do for you before I go?' One relative said that they 'go way above and beyond and I am very grateful for what they do for me.'

In response to a recent "customer survey", all respondents said that the services offered by Sussex Homecare were either "excellent" or "very good".
