During an assessment under our new approach
Date of assessment: 12 August 2025 – 26 August 2025.
The service can accommodate up to 12 people. At the time of our inspection 12 people were living at the service.
This inspection consisted of all the quality statements under each of the five key questions. We visited the service on the 15 August and 16 August 2025. The inspection was prompted to examine the service’s procedures for keeping people safe and whether the environment safely met their needs.
Processes for learning and improvement within the service were not always carried out as planned. The provider policy for accidents, incidents and events within the service were not always followed. This had meant lessons were not learnt from events or improvement made to prevent a reoccurrence. There was confidence in the registered manager of the service, however, oversight of the service was not always effective to ensure procedures were followed correctly. Provider oversight systems had not identified their processes had not been followed. Therefore, governance systems were not always operating effectively as they had not identified the shortfalls we found within this inspection.
We have identified a breach of regulation in relation to good governance. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this inspection.
People and their relatives told us they felt the care and support received at Ocknell Park was safe. People told us staff supported them to be able to rebuild and live their lives. Care and support plans were person centred and reviewed regularly with the person to ensure their wishes and dreams were noted. People had access to a wide variety of activities, hobbies and pastimes, all directed by them.
Staff were said to be kind, caring and compassionate, each one told us how proud they were to support people. People received their medicines as prescribed, and we were assured medicines were given appropriately and in accordance with good practice guidance. People had access to health and social care professionals as required. The service worked well with external professionals to support the care and support of people living at Ocknell Park.
