All Inspections

4 November 2013

During a routine inspection

At the time of this inspection, the agency provided care for 54 adults in their own homes.

During this inspection we spoke on the telephone with four people who used the agency, six relatives and one member of staff. We spoke with the provider, who was also the registered manager and two care staff at the agency office.

People we spoke with were complimentary about the care and support that they received. People said the staff were: 'Really very good. Kind and respectful'. 'Quite pleasant, they ask if they can do anything extra before they leave'.

People told us that they felt involved in any decisions that needed to be made about their care and these were made in their best interests.

We found that proper steps had been taken to ensure that individualised care and treatment was planned and delivered in a way that was intended to ensure people's safety and welfare.

We saw that staff recruitment checks had been undertaken that ensured they were suitable to care for vulnerable people. However, these had not always been completed prior to the staff involvement in the delivery of care for people.

The provider had systems of audit in place to enable them to monitor the quality of the service provided and ensure that people received appropriate care and treatment.

We found that any comments and complaints people made were responded to appropriately.

9 August 2012

During a routine inspection

We visited the agency office and spoke on the telephone with five people who used the agency, two relatives and a health care professional. We found that people were able to express their views and had been involved in making decisions about their care and treatment.

People told us that the staff always respected their privacy and dignity when they assisted them with personal care. We found that people's privacy, dignity and independence were respected.

We found that care and treatment had been planned and delivered in a way that met with the essential standards. People told us the agency was 'excellent, no faults at all' and 'they are absolutely fantastic, the girls are lovely. No fault with them at all'.

People experienced care, treatment and support that met their needs and protected their rights.

People who used the agency were protected from the risk of abuse, because the provider had taken reasonable steps to identify the possibility of abuse and prevent abuse from happening.

People and their advocates told us that they received a good standard of care from the staff who worked for the agency. People told us the staff were 'fine, very friendly they have a chat'.

We found that staff received appropriate induction and training. People were cared for by staff that were supported to deliver care and treatment to an appropriate standard and protect them against any unacceptable risk of harm.

People who used the agency were asked for their views about the care and treatment provided. The provider had an effective system in place to regularly assess and monitor the quality of service that people received.
