During a routine inspection

We spoke with 23 people who used the service and six people's family members or representatives. Overall people were positive about the care they received. They told us they felt safe and protected. They confirmed they were asked about the quality of service and their experiences. For example, one person said, 'The staff are really good and very attentive, they always check how I am, either in person or on the phone'. Another person said, 'The team leader or manager pops in every now and then to check on the staff and they always ask how things are and if anything has changed or do I need anything doing. I like that.'

People told us their privacy was respected and that they were treated with dignity. One person told us, 'When they (care staff) strip wash me, they ensure they keep me covered up as well as they can.' Another person told us, 'If the phone goes the carer will go into another room until I am finished.'

We looked at eight people's care records which provided information for staff on how to meet their individual health and care needs. We saw that people's choices and preferences were reflected in the care records and written in a way that promoted independence.

We looked at staff records and spoke with three members of staff who told us they were being appropriately supervised and supported.

We saw that the provider had systems and procedures in place to regularly monitor and assess the quality of the service provided.

During a routine inspection

We spoke with four people who used the service. They all told us that they were satisfied with the service and the care provided. One person said "I really appreciate it." Another said that "They are usually on time unless the traffic has held them up."

The people we spoke with all said that they knew their care plans were kept in their home. Some of them remembered signing them. We saw from the care plans in the office that care plans had been signed. People told us that "I have my regulars" and another said they always had the same care worker.

People told us that they felt safe with their care workers, and the provider had systems in place for people's protection. The provider had a detailed process for the recruitment of staff to ensure it met all legal and skill requirements.

People told us that "I am always able to contact the office." The provider had several methods for monitoring the quality of service provided and for taking action when needed.
